WINSLOW — A.C. Moore has announced plans to "exit retail operations" and shed its chain of more than 145 arts-and-crafts stores.
"Unfortunately, given the headwinds facing many retailers in today'due south environment, information technology fabricated it very difficult for us to operate and compete on a national level," Anthony Piperno, the concatenation'southward CEO, said Mon.
"Plans for closing specific A.C. Moore locations will exist shared in the upcoming weeks on our website," Piperno said in a statement.
He said the firm has stopped accepting online orders, but will ship "whatever previously placed orders in the ordinary class."

An industry behemothic, The Michaels Cos. Inc., will assume leases for up to 40 stores and for A.C. Moore'south E Coast distribution facility in Winslow, the argument said.
"We are looking forward to re-opening these stores under the Michaels name in 2020," said Michaels CEO Mark Cosby.

Mackinac's website says Pascucci has brash "distressed or underperforming companies in a broad range of industries."
A.C. Moore, a family-endemic house, opened its offset store in Moorestown in 1985. It currently employs more 5,000 workers in shops forth from Maine to Florida.
The company too has offices and distribution centers in Moorestown, Chicago and China.
A.C. Moore has made efforts to boost its performance in recent years — acquiring one eastward-commerce firm and investing in another in November 2017, for instance.
The company last year launched its first small-format shop in Haddon Township.
